UFC 199: Michael Bisping will get his first UFC title crack against Luke Rockhold

After news broke of Chris Weidman being pulled from the UFC 199 main event yesterday afternoon, it became clear that UFC middleweight champ Luke Rockhold had no intention of coming off the card. The only question was – who would the UFC slot in to take on the champ in the new main event? That question has been answered.

UFC President Dana White took to SportsCenter earlier today to announce that 25-fight vet Michael Bisping will be getting his first UFC title shot on June 4th in Inglewood, California.

Rockhold finished Bisping in their first meeting back in late 2014 in Sydney via guillotine choke early on in the 2nd round. With Weidman out due to injury the UFC looked to Ronaldo Souza first but “Jacare” was deemed unable to compete due to a knee injury that will require surgery. Next on the list was Bisping, who has won three straight since losing to Rockhold including a UD victory over former P4P king Anderson Silva.

Here’s the updated UFC 199 card as it stands today:

• Middleweight Title Bout: Luke Rockhold (c) (15-2) vs. Michael Bisping (28-7)
