UFC 216: Derrick Lewis ends short retirement to fight former champ

Published

on

After a short retirement from the sport of mixed martial arts, Derrick Lewis (18-5) is ready to make his return at UFC 216.

A heavyweight bout between Lewis and former heavyweight champ Fabricio Werdum (21-7-1) will take place on October 7th inside of the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Werdum is coming off a loss to Alistair Overeem at UFC 213 that put ‘The Reem’ up 2-1 in their career series.

Lewis is 1-1 thus far during his 2017 campaign with a dramatic victory over Travis Browne and a soul crushing loss to Mark Hunt, that made him rethink his career choice, to his credit. Werdum is currently ranked at #2 in the official UFC Heavyweight rankings while Lewis is #7.
