UFC 224 weigh-in results: Title fight official; Mackenzie Dern misses huge

The early weigh in results from UFC 224 are in and we have some good news and some bad news.
The good news is that the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship will officially be on the line in Rio tomorrow night when Amanda Nunes attempts to successfully defend the strap for the third time. Both the champ and challenger, Raquel Pennington, came in at 135 lbs.
Now for the bad news. Strawweight Mackenzie Dern missed weight by a whopping 7 lbs ahead of her bout with Amanda Bobby Cooper.
Not shocked @MackenzieDern missed weight but 7.4lbs over is a disgrace to all professionals. She’s not getting out of this fight that easy. Fight is still on. ABCNation get ready. #ufc224 strawweight vs flyweight tomorrow night in Brazil
— Amanda Bobby Cooper (@ABCnation115) May 11, 2018
The good news for Cooper is that she’ll receive 30% of Dern’s fight purse. This is 20% over the standard fine likely due to the amount she missed weight by. The bout will now be contested at a catchweight of 123 lbs. It should be noted that Dern is just 4 for 7 when it comes to making weight since beginning her pro mixed martial arts career back in 2016.
You can get the full weigh-in results for UFC 224 ‘Nunes vs. Pennington’ below. The ceremonial weigh-in event will begin at 4 p.m. ET.
