UFC 226: Khalil Rountree upsets Gokhan Saki via KO

Khalil Rountree Jr. beating Gokhan Saki in a MMA fight wouldn’t necessarily go down as a huge upset. Rountree knocking out Saki in just over 90 seconds into a fight that was contested exclusively on the toes, however, will definitely go down as one of the most memorable moments in International Fight Weekend history.

After a short feeling out process, Rountree stopped the Turkish kickboxing rebel legend with a straight left that sent him directly to the canvas. Thinking he’d done enough to end the bout, Rountree would step off — either out of respect of his opponent or knowing what he’s capable of with his own power. Referee in charge Jason Herzog would not wave off the contest though, forcing Rountree to step back in and drop a few more hammers on Saki, who was already out of commission from his opponents left hand just moments earlier.
Final Result: Khalil Rountree Jr. (7-2) defeats Gokhan Saki (1-2) via KO (punches) – Round 1, 1:36
