The world-famous Octagon is headed back to The O2 Arena in London for a Fight Night card that features a monster Heavyweight main event and plenty of local talent to boot.
The main event of the evening will see former UFC Heavyweight Champion Fabricio Werdum take on former Bellator Heavyweight Champion, Alexander Volkov, in a fight that could decide the next challenger for the winner of Stipe Miocic versus Daniel Cormier this summer.
Werdum has returned to his winning ways since dropping a Majority Decision to Alistair Overeem in their third meeting last summer while Volkov has posted a perfect record of 3-0 since making his UFC debut in Ireland at UFC Fight Night 99.
London’s resident ‘Poster Boy’ Jimi Manuwa will return to battle for the first time since losing a #1 contenders duel against Volkan Oezdemir when he takes on former KSW Light Heavyweight Champ Jan Blachowicz.
Manuwa’s title hopes were shattered in just 42 seconds by Oezdemir, who could go on to lose to Cormier in his bid for the strap at UFC 220 earlier this year. Blachowicz will enter this contest on the strength of back-to-back victories over Jared Cannonier and Devin Clark.
A bantamweight contest between dynamic Jackson Wink MMA product Tom Duquesnoy and Terrion Ware and a welterweight clash between former BAMMA 170 lbs champ Leon Edwards and Polish-German submission machine Peter Sobotta will round out the main card of this event.
The main card for UFC 127 ‘Werdum vs. Volkov’ will kick off at 1:45 p.m. ET this Saturday, March 17th and will be followed by the four-fight main card at 5 p.m. ET. The full card will air exclusively on UFC Fight Pass. These UFC Fight Pass cards move at a very quick pace which always makes it a great watch for MMA fans.
