Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone versus Patrick Cote welterweight battle added to upcoming UFC Ottawa card

UFC’s upcoming debut in Ottawa just got another salacious welterweight match up.
The always busy Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone (29-7) will make his second appearance at welterweight on June 18th at Fight Night 88 when he takes on the well rounded veteran French Canadian MMA legend Patrick Cote (23-9).
Cerrone made quick work of his Brazilian “Cowboy” counterpart Alex Oliveria in his welterweight debut last month in Pittsburgh earning the 16th submission and record breaking 16th post fight bonus in Zuffa history for just over two and a half minutes of work.
Cote has put together a solid 5-1 record since moving to welterweight back in the spring of ’14 during his most recent UFC stint. His lone loss came to the red hot “Wonderboy” Stephen Thompson via UD at UFC 178.
Thompson is slated to headline this very card against former #1 welterweight contender Rory MacDonald in a bout that will see the Canadian’s first walk to the cage since be finished by current champ Robbie Lawler in a bout that won 2015 FOTY honors.
UFC Fight Night ‘MacDonald vs. Thompson’ will likely air on FOX Sports 1 with the early prelims taking place on UFC Fight Pass. Stay tuned for more fight announcements in the coming weeks.
