Video: KSI vs Logan Paul Beating Mayweather-McGregor In Numbers So Far

Boxing has had its share of novelty fights, but one of the more interesting ones is August 25th’s battle of YouTubers. Olajide Olatunji, better known as KSI, will face popular vlogger Logan Paul at the Manchester Arena, before fighting Paul again in the United States some time before next February. The undercard has big names on it too, featuring the younger brothers of the main event fighters.
What makes this fight different from others, however, is the attention it’s getting. KSI has one fight under his belt, a win over Joe Weller, and Logan Paul has none. Despite this, Saturday’s press conference drew millions of viewers. As of the time of this article, the press conference video on Logan Paul’s channel has 8,243,114 views. For comparison, the Mayweather-McGregor fight only drew 3,838,129 views for a press conference in Toronto. More recently, the final press conference for Errol Spence Jr. vs Carlos Ocampo has 24,013 views on YouTube.
It’s pretty impressive for a fight between a 1-0 and a 0-0 boxer, and it’s also interesting that a fight between YouTube stars is drawing more attention than major fights between professional boxers. Is this just a matter of the two fighters already having an extensive fanbase, and the fight being free, or is it an example of boxing’s problems with promoting its real stars? Check out the video above, and see for yourself what you think.
