Video: Nick Newell cranks it up at LFA 35
After retiring from the sport back in 2015, Nick Newell (14-1) decided to return to the cage last night in Texas at LFA 35, where he’d main event a catchweight bout at 160 lbs against Sonny Luque (10-7). Newell would dominate Luque, earning himself a submission victory via a nasty face crank at just over the two minute marker in the very first round.
Newell declared himself UFC ready following the contest, and his performance and 14-1 record (with his lone loss coming to UFC lightweight Justin Gaethje back in 2014) will make it difficult for them to deny him moving forward.
