After over 8 months away, UFC strawweight contender Paige VanZant just made her return to the cage tonight in Vancouver – with a vengeance.

After a close back and forth opening round that appeared to go to her opponent, former Invicta FC title challenger ‘Rowdy’ Bec Rawlings, VanZant shut off the lights just 17 seconds into Round 2. VanZant dropped Rawlings with a lethal jumping switch kick that will highlight her highlight reel for the rest of her career. She followed her prone opponent to the ground, sealing the deal with some punches before referee Dan Miragliotta saved Rawlings from any more unnecessary harm.

This was VanZant’s first fight back from an impressive stint on Dancing With The Stars that earned her a shot at the famed Mirror Ball trophy (she’d come in 2nd place) and a brand new fan base. She suffered her first loss in the UFC last December against inaugural UFC strawweight title Rose Namajunas, breaking a solid 3-fight win streak. Now, after a finish that guarantees her a performance of the night bonus, VanZant puts herself right back in the mix at 115 lbs and on the shortlist of KO of the Year candidates.

Final Result: Paige VanZant (7-2) defeats Bec Rawlings (7-5) via KO (switch kick + punches) – Round 2, 0:17
