WrestleMania 33 Preview: Seth Rollins vs. Triple H

How Did We Get Here?: This is a match that has years in the making. Ever since Rollins turned on The Shield and joined Hunter, we knew that when Rollins turned back, this would eventually be a match that only WrestleMania could house. What we didn’t know is that it’d take this long. An injury during the autumn before Mania 32 stopped the build before it could gain some steam and the company was forced to go in a different direction. The match would be delayed until 2017.
Rollins would suffer another knee injury during the build up to this year’s and for a moment, it seemed like he’d be sitting out his second consecutive Mania after his career defining moment at WrestleMania 31. However, somehow, someway, Seth Rollins will make it to WrestleMania after signing a “Hold Harmless’ agreement making this a non-sanctioned match. Whether or not it will be a good idea remains to be seen.
What’s at Stake?: This is a blood feud that still has legs if Triple H wants to wrestle again at SummerSlam. Even if Rollins does win, it’s not like he can single-handedly end ‘The Authority’ by winning a non-sanctioned match. If Rollins wins he looks like a stud beating a legend on one leg. If H wins with Rollins putting up a fight, ‘The Architect’ still comes out looking stronger. I have a feeling it won’t be as cut and dry.
Excitement Level: Strangely enough, this one didn’t feel like right until just recently. This matchup went from being one that we wanted to happen to one that just needed to happen after unfortunate delays. With the uncertainty of Rollins’ status leading up to this Sunday, more interest was generated. Add in some great Triple H promos and on hell of a video package and I don’t think I’m alone when I say I’m all in for this one. Maybe the hold harmless stipulation takes something away from it but I trust that two of the greatest minds in the business in Triple H and Seth Rollins can come up with something great.
Prediction: Rollins winning would be the way to go because it’d put him over huge. I have a feeling H isn’t ready to got out like that though quite yet. With Samoa Joe not booked on this card you have to expect him to get involved making this a DQ finish. If you want to take it even further, why not have Rollins win only to earn himself a beat down from Trip’s current muscle; Joe and Kevin Owens. Then re-introduce Finn Balor as the leader of the new faction to continue the Balor-Rollins feud with Finn as the new face of The Authority. More like fantasy booking than an actual prediction but let’s just stick with it and pray.
