WWE Battleground: Flag Match booked between two returning superstars

A flag match between 16-time World Champion John Cena and 2-time United States Champion Rusev has been booked for WWE Battleground on July 23rd in Philly.
The match was added to Smackdown’s next exclusive PPV event on tonight’s episode after both men returned to action following extended layoffs. Cena would open the show to hype up the crowd with a Pro American promo before Rusev would interrupt by slamming the United States (much to the dismay of the fans in attendance) and waving the Bulgarian flag. Cena would then challenge Rusev to a “old fashioned” flag match to which Rusev would turn down, saying that he wanted to fight on his terms.
Later on in the program, it was announced that the match has indeed been booked for Battleground in just under 3 weeks time.
