WWE color commentator Jerry “The King” Lawler has been suspended by WWE indefinitely due to allegations of domestic abuse.

It was a wild night for Lawler and his girlfriend, Lauren McBride, last night at Lawler’s home in East Memphis, Tennessee. According to a report from WREG Memphis, McBride is saying that Lawler “struck her in the head and pushed her against the stove.” This was before he put a loaded pistol on his kitchen counter and told her to “kill herself,” McBride said. Lawler’s account of the story was a little different.

The 66-year-old WWE Hall of Famer claims that McBride scratched his face and threw a candle at him and kicked him in the groin. Lawler said that it was an intoxicated McBride who brought the pistol into the kitchen. Both Lawler and McBride were taken into Shelby County Jail late into the night and have since been released from jail.

Here’s WWE’s official statement on Lawler’s arrest:

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Jerry Lawler was arrested at his home Friday morning by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office in Memphis, Tenn.

According to a police report, Lawler and his girlfriend, Lauryn McBride, were taken into custody and booked on alleged charges of domestic assault—bodily harm, a misdemeanor.

WWE has zero tolerance for matters involving domestic violence, and per our policy, Jerry Lawler has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest.

Before being suspended, Lawler was serving as the color commentator for WWE Smackdown alongside Mauro Ranallo and Byron Saxton.
