WWE Elimination Chamber Preview

Published

on

This Sunday on the WWE Network, it’s time for the Smackdown LIVE exclusive PPV, Smackdown’s final stop on the road to WrestleMania, the Elimination Chamber. But will it turn out to be a good event?

The Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona hosts the returning, fan-favourite Elimination Chamber pay-per-view which sees WWE champion John Cena defend his belt against five other competitors in the famous chamber match. Will he defend the title, or will he lose it just two weeks ago after capturing the prestigious championship from recent rival, AJ Styles? The betting odds are to believe he will leave the PPV, without his record 16th title.

Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship

In the main event of the evening, John Cena must overcome five men (Baron Corbin, Dean Ambrose, AJ Styles, Bray Wyatt & The Miz) to retain his WWE championship where the winner is sure to face the 2017 Royal Rumble winner, WWE’s Apex Predator, Randy Orton at WrestleMania 33. The betting odds for this chamber match say BRAY WYATT will capture his first singles championship in WWE and speaking for myself, I would love for Wyatt to win the WWE Title. Storyline wise, it makes all the sense in the world for Bray Wyatt to come out of the chamber victorious.

Facing fellow Wyatt family member Randy Orton for the title at WrestleMania makes for a great championship bout at the show of shows. If Wyatt does come out the victor on Sunday night could we see a Heel Randy Orton? I hope so, I believe Randy Orton works much better as a Heel than a Face. But what’s next for the other competitors in the chamber match going into WrestleMania? Cena Vs. Styles again? Ambrose Vs. Corbin for the Intercontinental title? Who knows, I’m looking forward to see what happens regardless.

Prediction – Bray Wyatt

Alexa Bliss vs. Naomi for the SmackDown Women’s Championship

My thoughts on the build up to this match are not very great, it’s individually been a very dull and non-entertaining segment on SmackDown LIVE. Surprisingly though, the odds favour the challenger, Naomi. I would personally like to see the champion retain her belt and then defend against a Face turned Mickie James at WrestleMania on April 2nd. I’m going to predict Bliss comes out the winner and defends the title against either Becky Lynch or Mickie James, maybe even a triple-threat match involving both females.

Prediction – Alexa Bliss

SmackDown Live Tag Team Championship Turmoil match

Arguably the weakest Tag Team roster in WWE history, I can’t see anyone else going over American Alpha. I believe they will retain their Championships and be the dominant force in the SmackDown LIVE Tag Team division. The only other team I consider that has the capability of holding the titles are the former 2-time Tag-champs, The Usos. Let’s be honest though, who really wants to see The Usos win the belts for a third time? Also with no momentum coming into the match. I couldn’t imagine them having Breezango, Ascension or Heath Slater & Rhyno winning the belts and defending them at WrestleMania.

Prediction – American Alpha

Luke Harper vs. Randy Orton

Now this match is a very hard one to call, you have Randy Orton who’s heading into a WrestleMania main event for the WWE title. In the mean time you have Luke Harper who’s just turned on his fellow Wyatt family members which has led to this match at the pay-per-view. I have a slight thought in the back of my mind that if Orton is to lose at Elimination Chamber, than he will pick up the victory at WrestleMania and become a 13-time World Champion. I do believe they will give Randy the victory but keep Harper looking strong in his defeat.

Prediction – Randy Orton

Nikki Bella vs. Natalya

Speaking for myself and most definitely many more, I hope this is the blow off match between these two females at Elimation Chamber, I haven’t been a fan of this one. It’s gone on for far too long and hasn’t been very entertaining to watch. If the speculation is true about Nikki Bella’s potential retirement plans in the near future, then I would say that WWE will put Nikki Bella over. Other than that I really wouldn’t know who WWE would make victorious.

Prediction – Nikki Bella

Dolph Ziggler vs. Apollo Crews and Kalisto

This handicap match make no sense whatsoever, you have two Faces versus a Heel. If Crews & Kalisto pick up the win than it really does nothing for the two men, while if Ziggler wins than it makes Apollo and Kalisto look incredibly weak when you have two potential stars in the making. I do think WWE are going to put Dolph Ziggler back to winning ways via cheating. (chair shot, low-blow etc.) But what happens with Crews and Kalisto? Two amazingly talented men in the ring but both unfortunately are lacking charisma and promo skills.

Prediction – Dolph Ziggler

Becky Lynch vs. Mickie James

My pick for match of the night and Mickie James’ first singles bout back on the main roster. The most interesting and entertaining women’s feud currently and also the two best female technical Wrestlers on SmackDown LIVE, it’s sure to be an amazing contest. But the ultimate question is Mickie’s return, is it to put talent over as she is an established Superstar in WWE. Or is it to become a 7-time Women’s Champion? Conclusively I do think we will see a roll-up pin from James to pick up the victory and maybe then we’ll see Becky Lynch as a two-time Women’s champion after WrestleMania finishes. Whatever happens in the future I’m sure this one between Mickie James and Becky Lynch will be a classic in the women’s division in WWE.

Prediction – Mickie James

Mojo Rawley vs. Curt Hawkins (Kickoff show)

Announced just a short time ago now, in the Kickoff show to the pay-per-view, Mojo Rawley will take on Curt Hawkins. There isn’t much to go into on this one because there has been no feud or build up in this match. I’ll say Hawkins will pick up the victory by some sort of shenanigans.

Prediction – Curt Hawkins
