WWMT: Sting-HHH at WM 31, Bryan on RAW, Lesnar-Cena

The Survivor Series was largely booked as a one match show and that match delivered way above expectations. It was an absolutely fantastic, dramatic and well put together contest from the opening bell all the way through to Sting’s interference in the finish. I thought in the brief amount he did that the 55-year-old Sting looked great, and it seems the direction is for him to wrestle Triple H at WrestleMania. I’m sure that will disappoint many who were hoping for the mystical dream match between him and the Undertaker but there is no guarantee at this point that Taker will return in San Jose, let alone at all, and in terms of match quality I think Triple H and Sting can put together something special and that long time fans of the Stinger will really enjoy.
The follow up to the Survivor Series on Raw was a little hit and miss, I couldn’t put my finger on it but Daniel Bryan did not come across as the returning former World Champion hero and I’m concerned that the ‘Yes’ chant could be played out. I’m sure things will improve when he can get back to in ring action, but things like his wife Brie using the chant on tv, Vince in an advert for the network and Stephanie’s use of it in a mocking way haven’t exactly helped.
I suspect the next couple of weeks of TV to be just there leading through TLC and onwards towards Lesnar & Cena at the Royal Rumble where the build to WrestleMania will truly begin. It’s interesting that WWE didn’t bump the Lesnar & Cena match up to TLC because that would surely have got more subscribers for a ‘B’ show with little interest going into it than the recognised name that is the Royal Rumble which should be able to sell itself.
